I designed the branding, UX and UI for Roost.com and all online efforts. I worked directly with the CEO, CTO and the Senior Management Team to define the product roadmap and all online and offline initiatives.

Challenge:
How to make searching for real estate fun and not stressful.
Solution:
Develop a complete brand identity, including logo, letterhead, marketing collateral and site. Present Roost as a friendly easy to use property search engine, designed to take the stress out of house hunting.
Clearly prominent endorsements from people in the industry that testify to the speed, simplicity and ease of use Roost brings to real estate search.

Challenge:
How to create a co-branded property search site that presents a consistent UX nationwide, while still complying to the multitude of MLS restrictions and regulations that dictate how property listings and data can be displayed across MLS districts nationwide.
Solution:
Design an extremely flexible UX and IA that allows for all the various MLS requirements integrated with a comprehensive rules table that defines what property attribute may or may not be displayed, switching off page elements as needed.

Marketing Collateral & Branding

 

Challenge:
Roost's branding must accomplish two goals. First and foremost, it must speak visually to the key qualities that embody the spirit and character of our company. It needs to be memorable and engaging and should support the assertion that Roost - a search engine - is fast and friendly.
How to establish a brand that is memorable and identifiable, yet able to effectively co-exist with and accommodate the co-branding efforts necessary for IDX compliance.
Solution:
Ensure that the Roost brand is strong enough to stand on its own and maintain an overarching identity for the site without competing with or overshadowing the brands of its various MLS sponsoring brokers. Most broker sites tend to have established brands, conveying a serious tone that bespeaks stability and determination. In contrast, the whimsical/playful quality of the Roost brand creates an engaging juxtaposition that establishes an appropriate context for co-branding while minimizing the potential for competition.
